Hi Everyone,
We had at the Peabody outreach launch today. I think the Decafinator was a big hit, but I think we can improve the build. I have a couple of thoughts.
For those who were not there, I came with a Fliskits Decaffinator partially built with the motor mount and fin assembly already put together. I then brought extra cups and markers to kids to decorate and added them on as they decorated them. I started by trying to use fast acting epoxy but that did not set fast enough and we ended up just masking tape it together. Ultimately we have something well over 6 feet and with an extra layer of cups around the middle.
The masking tape worked surprisingly well, though alignment was a little tough and the outside layers wandered some. I think I should have used 6 cups around instead of 3 though I was worried about the launch lug being clear.
I also think that for an event like this, next time I will bring two fin/motor assemblies and we and put both together.
If anyone has any other suggestions then let me know.
See everyone in Amesbury in two weeks,
Nick
