Alien saucer.... was created by jabikeman
hey guys so this is what i planed on flying at acton but instead i flew it this past weekend.

Flew great, tho had a very hard landing, i think due to the weight. but i plan on rebuilding it, and adding a recovery system to it.

It is a 10\" saucer, I am thinking about extending the motor mount to add a piston and a small parachute to it. will make a stay up right but hope full want make me have to re build it each time i launch it. LOL

any thought on making this type of recovery system for it?

Jason,

It looks like your saucer was stable on the way up due to its speed, but was unstable on the way down.

The way to fix that is to shift weight forward. With more weight forward the saucer will flip over and head nose down. Then your longer motor casing will take the impact on the grass.

Also please remove the BP from the ejection charge, or your saucer risks starting a grass fire.

Weight can be shifted by:

1) Using longer motors. For example a longer 29mm motor (in a 29mm to 38mm adapter) with the same impulse as a shorter 38mm motor shifts weight forward.

2) Put the battery for your LEDs as close to the top of the saucer as you can.
