Safety Statistics was created by ClaudeMaina
I work with the 6th grade at the Page School in West Newbury each year with a build and launch. Each year there is a letter that goes out to the parents - mostly to get permission to take the kids off site for the launch. But I would like to include in the letter some safety statistics - e.g. number of trips to the ER per total number of flights. I\'ve been trying to find those numbers on the NAR and other web sites but with no success. I thought I did see that number somewhere, but can\'t now remember where I saw it, or even if I did see it.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Claude

Try this:

www.nar.org/pdf/40years.pdf

Parts of it are dated (it still says you can mail rocket engines).

Thanks Bill.

The report is pretty comprehensive; but, as you said, a little out-of-date. I e-mailed NAR to see if they can help. If they reply with some useful numbers, I\'ll post them here.

Claude, when you do get some stats, post these along side for comparison...

\"In the United States during 2005, 1,335 children ages 14 years and younger died as occupants in motor vehicle crashes, and approximately 184,000 were injured.\" Source: www.cdc.gov/ncipc/factsheets/childpas.htm

...then you can conclude with some ratio of how many times safer model rocketry is.

I\'d avoid any mention of injuries and ERs at all.

Bringing up the subject at all will just scare (some) people.

Doesn\'t USPS parcel post count as mail? I just got about 300 BP motors 1/4A thru D in the mail today. -Alan
