The LED strips are amazing. Bill thanks again for the link.

Some pictures and description starting at post #52:

The strips are built so that at about every 2\" there is a clearly marked cut point. In each of these 2\" sections there are 3 surface mounted LEDs and a resistor.

I used a 3 cell Lipo battery (nominal 11.1V, charges to over 12V). The one I picked was 480mAh and weighed 1.4oz, just slightly larger than a standard 9V.

Instead of a switch, I just connect or disconnect the battery directly to the LED strips.

wire
LED strips

If you do not already have one, will need a Lipo specific battery charger if using a Lipo battery.

hello to all hope everyone\'s holiday season was great and the new year is going super so far. this blip is a question to boris / any one else that can help out...

I am trying to put LEDs on a saucer, trying to get it done for the Acton fest thing. I have found the web site that boris used for his LEDs on his spinning wheel of death (not sure if that is the name of it but i like it), tho i can\'t find a battery supply that is strong enough to power the strips. everything i find you need to plug into the wall :(

So my question is where in the world do i find a batter supply that can power these strips?

I bought the battery described in my last post at Hobby Lobby.

It can power my saucer with 96 LEDs for a maximum of 2 hours. I would not run it for more than 1 hour to help the battery last longer.

If you use a lipo battery you must use a lipo battery charger.

Alternatively, you can use a 9V battery as Bill stated in his last post. The LEDs will light up with a 9V battery but will not be as bright.
