We had a fine ending for our 2012 flying season. As is often the case for our last launch of the year, the winds were low and the temperature was cool but pleasant. We had around 220 flights during the day that included some interesting demo flights from Fliskits, a lot of high power flights, a couple of impressive catos and, of course, the most impressive flight of the day, the Katan Hellboy 70 (actually 69 but who's counting?). There are photos in the gallery. If you haven't added yours yet, please do. We ended the day with a night launch which included the usual array of illuminated rockets and a RC plane with lights. It was getting a little cold near the end so eight of us quickly headed for Acapulco's where the manager took pity on us and found us a table in the crowded restaurant. Thanks to all of you who volunteered to make our launches run smoothly.
If you were at the launch there would be no doubt in your mind that summer is gone. The day started out cloudy, cold and windy and improved to sunny, chilly and windy by the end. The good news is that the wind was blowing down the long dimension of the field. With a little skill you could land your rocket close to the pads. With a little less skill you could combine your trip to recover your rocket and a trip to the portable toilets in one. Once again the miserable weather forecast kept attendance down but even so we had around 180 flights from MicroMaxx up to J. You can find photos in the gallery and on the Fliskits website, videos in this thread in the forum and details of Boris's Hell Boy in this thread on TRF.
