We are postponing this Saturday's launch to Sunday, 02 April. The wind will be blowing toward the trees so be careful.

It's possible there may be a window of opportunity on Saturday so keep an eye on the website.

If your team is planning on flying, let us know in this thread. Leave your contact information so we can let you know of any last minute changes.

The F42’s are 29mm. I’ll call over there.

I was thinking of the F44... oops

The official club TARC launches are done for this season. As expected, the final day was busy and the weather led to some widely varying results. We wish all of the schools that flew with us well.

Special thanks go out to Jim, Howard, Ed and Guy for going above and beyond the normal volunteering and accommodations.

A few tip for teams for next year:
  • download the rules as soon as they are published after this year's finals
  • READ and understand the rules
  • find other students who can bring their skills to the effort, design, flight simulation, fund raising, report writing, etc.
  • start building and testing a few designs as early as you can (CMASS holds launches every month except December)
  • practice as much as you can to refine your designs and see what alterations you can make to it to match the second round changes in the finals
  • CMASS members are available for advice at launches and our twice monthly ZOOM meetings

Great advice!

Available with the TARC materials is a list of local mentors who can provide help in multiple ways over the course of the season.

Start early...

The TARC Finalist list was published today. Unfortunately none of the New England teams that flew with us made the cutoff; two teams from Connecticut are in the finals. Flying rockets in New England is not the easiest place in the country (weather, trees, etc) but that doesn't mean to say that it is impossible. Kenn's advice is most important here - get started early and get as many practice launches in as possible and work to refine and dial in the rocket to meet the requirements of the competition. Most of all, please don't leave things for the last minute. That never works out well. CMASS has a lot of resources available to those teams who want to take advantage of them - launches, mentors, equipment etc.  You just need to ask.
Anyway, congrats to those teams who tried out and made the effort. We all had a lot of fun and we will be here for you next year!
