What do you do so that the "downwards" facing well retains it's charge and igniter during boost?

For a 3x24" tube would 1/2 gram charges be enough?

I don't have any pictures. So I'll do my best to describe the set up. First, use the right size charge well - such that most of the internal volume is taken up by the black powder. I place the head of the e-match at the bottom of the well and then fold it over the side and wrap a piece of tape around the outside of the e-match and well to keep it in place. Add the black powder and then pack it in and fill up the rest of the volume with wadding. I seal it with Parafilm. You can also use masking tape. Hope that is clear.

There are a few formula's to calculate the amount of black powder needed. I use:

O.D. x O.D. x L(length of available volume in body tube) x 0.006 = grams of black powder.

I use that as a starting point and then ground test, ground test, ground test.

For altimeters, I've used ...
- Featherweight Raven
- Eggtimer Quantum and Proton
- Marsa33 and Marsa54

For trackers, I've used Eggtimer.

I've also used Altus Metrum for both trackers and altimeters, but boy their stuff is quirky, Occasionally, some very serious bugs have made their way into releases. I'm phasing their stuff out.

The Marsa are sweet to program. They have an LCD screen and a joystick. Program it right in the field.

I really like the WiFi link in the Quantum, though, and for that reason I am phasing out my Ravens.

I have a couple of Protons. There are some circuit complexities that make me nervous, so I am not going to build any more.

I love the quatums. I've had them work really well and love their simplicity
