Saturday morning started out with a great weather forecast and the trailer loaded and ready to go. What could go wrong? As I pulled out of my street I heard a thunk. Looking in my mirror I could see a tool case in the road. I was sure I closed that door tight. Only a minor setback, I picked it up and was one my way again. I made it about a mile before I had to hit the brakes to miss a squirrel. The squirrel survived but the brakes didn't. A frantic call to my son got me his truck and I was on my way again. Fortunately the bad luck ended there. The weather turned out to be as forecast. Very little wind and hot.Turnout was great with a lot of families. That made for a lot of flights. I believe the final count was around 275. As usual, we flew everything from 1/8 A up to the G limit of the field. I was sure we made it through the entire day without landing something in the power lines or trees until I saw Howard's pictures in the gallery. Many thanks to the people who volunteered ahead of time and worked a shift and to the ones who worked anyway without pre-volunteering. That's my grandson in the picture. Want to have your child, grandchild, friend, significant other or yourself in the picture? The person who does this short write up of the launch gets to pick the picture (within limits!).
