The higher winds held off in the morning providing good conditions for competition. With two competition flyers there was actually a bit of intra-club competition, although both struggled to get qualified flights. Mike Sherrod brought along both a tower launcher and a zero-volume piston, introducing some new tech to the competition.
In 1/2A FAI SD, Mike posted a single flight time of 17 seconds with a second flight DQ'd due to streamer non-deploy. I managed 2 qualified flights, for a total of 44 seconds. Interestingly, a 4" streamer and 5" streamer both returned similar times.
In B RG, Mike posted a single flight time of 22 seconds. My first flight was 16 seconds, the 2nd flight DQ'd for no glide.
In B HD, Mike posted a single flight time of 46 seconds. My flight was DQ'd for separation, although the rotor helicoptered down nicely albeit without the airframe
.
Mike flew A Payload Altitude to 48 meters and 1/2A Altitude to 56 meters. Once the A Payload Altitude score is confirmed, Mike and I will share 8th place in C Division on the National Scoreboard.
As a section, even with only 2 competition fliers, CMASS ranks at 6th place in the National Section Championship. Can we get a couple more to dip a toe into the water of competition flying and try out 1/2A Altitude or A Payload and see if we can move the section into the top 5?

Stephen
