We will have a guest speaker at this Tuesday's (Sep 17) club meeting in Watertown.

Graham Stoddard will talk about his company's work on creating a sensor for a cubesat that will be placed in lunar orbit. The intent is to map the presence of hydrogen at the lunar poles (with the assumption that each hydrogen atom is bound to two oxygen atoms).

Graham works with Radiation Monitoring Devices Inc. in Watertown on the Lunar Polar Hydrogen Mapper (LunaH-Map) project. LunaH-Map is one of 13 CubeSats planned to be launched with Artemis 1 in 2021 and placed in orbit around the moon.

Meetings start at 6:30, Graham is scheduled for 7:00, but we will also have the option to visit Graham's workspace where we can see the hardware and use their conference space for the talk.

For anyone curious, the Artemis 1 mission will be the first launch of the SLS BLK1 rocket and the second flight of an unmanned Orion capsule. Tentatively scheduled for 26 days. Also, Artemis is/was the twin sister of Apollo.

Will we still be meeting at the Hatch Maker Space?

As I read Ed's post, we meet at Hatch, hear about the program and then, if we want (and who wouldn't want), we can go over to the fellow's company and see some hardware.
